Case study · Magic Jump

Technical SEO on a custom PHP catalog—then Google Ads.

Magic Jump is a Southern California commercial inflatable manufacturer. I was hired as their SEO specialist (2019–2020) to improve organic visibility on custom PHP product and category pages. After the organic program proved itself, ownership expanded into Google Ads. Within the same business family I also laid the Shopify foundation for HullaBalloo Sales. This page covers employment work for Magic Jump—not the separate Cutting Edge Creations prototype.

The problem

The commercial catalog ran on custom PHP product and category templates. The need was disciplined technical and on-page SEO on those revenue pages—not a content-mill blog strategy—before paid Search joined the engagement.

What I owned

I owned SEO execution first: checklist-driven technical and on-page work across product and category templates, tracked in a spreadsheet and shipped continuously with their developer. Once organic results were visible, they brought me into Google Ads for the same catalog.

What was done

  • SEO checklist on commercial pages

Work followed a practical technical SEO checklist—breadcrumbs, H1s, meta descriptions, and a long list of site fixes aimed at commercial templates. The leverage was product and category pages, not publishing volume.

  • Google Ads expansion

Once SEO results were visible, ownership expanded into Google Ads for the same commercial catalog. Paid Search spend, ROAS, and dollar outcomes are not published here—only that Ads became part of the same engagement after the organic program proved out.

  • HullaBalloo Sales Shopify foundation

I also laid the foundation for HullaBalloo Sales (hullaballoosales.com)—their first Shopify storefront. Present-day ranking claims are recollection, not a fresh audit published on this page.

Outcomes

  • Documented during the engagement (résumé / site record): revenue +35.7% (~+36%), average order value +112.6% (~+113%), direct traffic +279%, Google organic +87%.
  • SEO moved key commercial queries into competitive organic positions on product and category pages.
  • Expanded from SEO into Google Ads after the organic program proved itself.
  • Laid the Shopify foundation for HullaBalloo Sales—still live at hullaballoosales.com.

Google Ads budgets, ROAS, and other paid-dollar metrics are omitted. Present-day HullaBalloo rankings are stated as belief, not as a current audited scoreboard. Cutting Edge Creations is a different brand and a separate independent prototype—not part of this engagement.
